Blogged in Cards, Stampin' Up! by Jenni Monday September 22, 2008

Bathroom cleaning day! Usually. Oops.

Instead I got sidetracked as usual and started cleaning up my stamping room, which lead to me creating a couple of cards.  It started off innocently enough. I went through the pile of stamped images I’ve created over the last year, and tossed the ones of retired sets into the kids craftbox for them to use. But lo and behold, there were some things in that pile that just HAD to be made up into cards RIGHT NOW.

I mean the bathroom grime will still be there tomorrow - but my Mojo might have packed up and left by then! Gasp! The risk was too great so I played it on the safe side……

Here’s number one….

It’s Polka Dots & Paisley which is a cute little set, colours are Lovely Lilac and Certainly Celery. The sentiment didn’t quite fit onto the larger Tag Punch when it was straight, so I had to go for the jaunty angle to fit it in. You can tell the images have been sitting around for a while - just look at that splodge of dirt on the corner of the tag, I think I might bung a celery brad there!!

And here is number two….

This one use A Touch Of Nature, Sanded, Linen and the greeting is from Occasional Greetings.  I’ve daubed and sponged all over the place to soften the look of this one. It was just too stark without the sponging.

I coloured the images using a blender pen and the Stampin’ Up! classic inkpads, the colours for this one are Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky, with a little bit of So Saffron in the flower centre. The butterfly is trimmed close to the edge of the image, and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some height as if it’s hovering over the flower.

Hope you like them! Just don’t come here today and ask to use the bathroom !! :D

Bloomin’ With Beauty

Blogged in , Cards, Stampin' Up! by Jenni Monday September 15, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I stamped out some images from Bloomin’ with Beauty while Kerri was here - and I finally got around to using it here!

It was a HEAP of fun to colour, and I used my Watercolour Wonder Crayons with an Aquapainter to do it. I stamped the image onto our Stampin’ Up! watercolour cardstock so I could really splash around with heaps of water.

The colours are Old Olive, Lavender Lace, Almost Amethyst and More Mustard. The little bee is Summer Sun and Basic Grey, and I added a little bit of shimmer to the wings with my Twinkling H2O’s.  The base card has been stamped with the Sanded background, and the Old Olive piece with the Linen background.

That little greeting is one from Fast & Fun Notes, and it fits in the Word Window Punch perfectly - I doodled a straightish line around the edge to match the one I did to frame the flowers. A little bit of twill and a flower brad from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge hardware tin, and it’s finished!

Thanks for looking!

I should be…..

doing some prep for my workshop tomorrow, but gosh darn it, I am a creature of whim, and I just can’t do it right now! Instead, after chatting to my downline Kerri today, I have created a 2-5-7-10 box, and I’m just loving myself SICK over it!

OK so imagine this, your friend has just had a delightful little bundle of joy. Yep, it’s a boy. Now there’s not enough space to fit anything fab presentwise into this box (unless it’s a 16 carat diamond but let’s keep it real here), but imagine the look of absolute JOY on the new mothers face when she opens the box and finds a set of earplugs, Panadol (Acetominophen) and some Infacol or Infants Friend in there! Along with a voucher for a ‘Girls Night Out’ of course.

Something for the MUM this time, not the squealing kid in the crib. Hoopla to that!

I remember my terrific co-worker and friend Tracey from the Macedon St Dental Clinic phoning me on the occasion of my first born’s First Birthday. Did she say “Happy Birthday Amy!!”??. No. It was “Happy Birthing Day” to ME! I’ll never forget that, and I always try to think of the Mum on these occasions. We’re special too!!

OH! Both of these items were made with the Nursery Necessities stamp set, along with the FREE Nursery Letters Jumbo Stampin’ Around wheel that I got this month. And needless to say…. I am LOVING it!! (Colours are Gable Green, Bashful Blue and Barely Banana - or Bali Banana as some of my customers are want to call it. Yes Margaret, I am talking about you, and your cohorts!!)

September Christmas Stamp-A-Stack

Blogged in by Jenni Saturday September 6, 2008

Crikey, this is a posting bonanza today!

Here are the cards for September’s Christmas Stamp-A-Stack at my home in Gisborne. This will be held on Saturday 27th September, beginning at 10am. Usually the classes run for 2-3 hours, so plan on being here till 12noon or 1pm’ish.

The blue one on the right hand side was inspired by a card by Trish Myers, which I absolutely LOVE. You should check out her work - she’s really a talented lady!

The red one was inspired by the fact that I have about 4 packs of the Dashing Designer Series paper here, just begging to be used LOL!

Again this month I’ve mainly used the new Season of Joy stamp set from the Spring Mini Catalogue, which I am absolutely loving to death. There are so many ways to use it, the images are really versatile.

Drop me a line at jenni.oliver@hotkey.net.au if  you’d like to book a place - there are only a couple left! I might have to start running two sessions!!

Oh yeah!!

There you go Petra! I will even upload a Nursery Necessities card when I get my anxious little hands on it, tee hee!

Father’s Day

Blogged in by Jenni Saturday September 6, 2008

I spent the day with some of my downlines today, just chatting and stamping and generally relaxing - it was a LOT of fun, and I actually got two cards made!

I had borrowed Bronc Buster from Yvonne to make some blokey cards, so it seemed like a good idea to use the horsey image for Father’s Day cards for my Dad and Father-In-Law.

I’d already experimented with brayering some Really Rust and More Mustard onto some gloss cardstock, something like a YEAR ago, and never did anything with it - until now!!  I used Stazon Jet Black ink to stamp the horse and rider onto the gloss cardstock.

The colours for this are Really Rust, Not Quite Navy, Basic Black and Whisper White. The shiny brad in the centre of the star is from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge set. What better background for a blokey look, than Sanded - looks like it’s come straight from the shed LOL!

The photo corners and small star were punched out using Stampin’ Up! punches, and of course, there is the usual dose of sponge daubing around all of the edges.

I did get some fingerprints in the brayered section because I was handling it so much today… hmmm, should I put it here, or here, or maybe on an angle, or maybe have the card opening the other way, or maybe….. you know how it is! I had a halfhearted attempt at using a sponge dauber to gently cover over the area’s, which is why the coverage is not as even as it should be, but I still think it looks ok. I am going to justify it by saying it ‘adds depth’ to the image. How does that sound? I’m sure the Dad’s will just be pleased to actually GET a card this year, and won’t care two hoots!!

Hope you like it, I’ll be back to post the other one soon - it uses the same colours and images, but I’ve changed it around a little.
