Me and Bri

Blogged in Just Stuff by Jenni Monday July 28, 2008

Woo hoo!! This is a pic of me and Brian Canham at a party a few weekends ago - he got up to play with the band and deserted me for a while… but I managed to get this shot of us taken for old times sake.

Well if you believe that,  you’ll believe anything!!

What REALLY happened was that Pseudo Echo played at a surprise birthday party for a friend of mine - it was SUCH a blast from the past. I remember seeing them live at the ’1985 Thank God It’s Over’ concert at the Myer Music Bowl and falling in love. I had two of their cassettes (kids, you will have to ask Mum and Dad what that means ;-) ) and played them over and over and over. In fact I only threw them out in the last year or so.

Naturally, after listening to them play live, I was straight onto ebay the next morning, purchasing a CD of their album Autumnal Park. I still remembered all the words!!!

And here’s a better one of the band, without my boofhead in the way.

I really enjoyed the music, but I think the best part was how much the band obviously were enjoying themselves too - it was just magic.

(NB. Also, as a matter of interest, Pseudo Echo are great to listen to when you’re on the treadmill - they have an amazing beat to all their songs, nice and fast so I can’t slack off!)

Thanks for coming on a trip down memory lane with me!!

Baroque Motif’s

Blogged in Cards, Stampin' Up! by Jenni Monday July 28, 2008

This card is one I made during a cybernight with my downlines - the challenge was to use circles/spots/dots, anything round.

Baroque Motifs

I hadn’t used my In Colours yet (yes this was back in April!!), so I cracked them open and decided Soft Sky and Purely Pomegranate would work nicely together for this. The main image is from Baroque Motifs, but I’ve also used For You from the Occasional Greetings set, and the Sanded background.

I stamped the largest image in Purely Pomegranate, and trimmed the image, leaving a small amount of white showing. The smaller ‘flower’ type image was stamped in both colours - I trimmed the Soft Sky one, and used my 1 inch circle punch to pop out the centre of the Purely Pomegranate one - then layered them on top of each other. I finished the lot off with a half pearl from the Pretties kit. That large Soft Sky circle is made using the Round Tab Punch - I punched it twice, and just adhered the two shapes together, giving one a quarter turn. Voila! A big circle!!

The Purely Pomegranate square was looking a bit, well, blah, so I used the Cropodile to dry emboss some circles down the edge, and then sponged them with the pomegranate ink, to make them pop.

Hope you like it, and thanks for your patience with my slack blogging! The site has been having some hissy fits lately, not letting me upload pictures, and you might have noticed my other posts are photo-less too - I will try and upload the pics back as I get time!!

:D

Hoopla!

GO ME!! Congratulations to Kels, who won the Best Decorated Beanie competition for her school’s walkathon at the end of term!

The theme was Winter Wonderland, so naturally I went with the theme and dreamed up something so amazing, so remarkable, so FABULOUS she couldn’t possibly lose she said ‘yes’ to a snowman. Luckily we had bought white beanies for the occasion, so it was easy to see that as being snow - a little bit of toy stuffing, an old white stocking I never wore but spent a fortune on, and a scrap of fabric, and I was ready to bring on the magic and set my creative genius free.

See? Stampin’ Up! can even help with your costume needs!! That there nose is made from a cone of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and the hat is Basic Black of course. I scrounged through the button jar to find the buttons for his tummy, and the little beady eyes were from my stash too.

Here he is, perched majestically on top of her head, like a testament to my fabulousness big white snowman.

Amy insisted on having a garden on her head, so Stampin’ Up! supplied that too, along with a bee and ladybug circling… she looked cute too but her prize was stolen by some upstart without talent but didn’t win a prize this time.

Tee hee, I’ve always wanted to write a post with all those ‘ruled out’ bits, so now I can cross that off my ‘to do’ list….. and now I’m off to work!!

These will begin at 10am, and it should take between 2 - 3 hours to complete the ten cards.

If you can’t make it on a Saturday, why not get a group of friends together and I will come to you on a day or time that suits you better!

For those of you who don’t know what a Stamp-A-Stack is, here’s a quick explanation -

Each guest at your Stamp-A-Stack creates 10 cards (5 each of 2 designs). I provide everything you need for all 10 cards, all precut and ready to stamp and assemble. The cost per guest is $15.00, with the option of purchasing 10 envelopes that can be stamped to match, for an extra $2.50.

Here are the cards for July….

Hope to see you there!!

A simple one

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday July 3, 2008

I am a bad bad blogger! I have been very slack, so here’s a quick card to try and make up for it!!

I used this one as an engagement card for my cousin Mellissa and her fiance Cary - I don’t have it anymore obviously, and the computer I’m working at hasn’t got GREAT colour, so… I’m guessing really, as I can’t remember which colours I used. Oooops.

I think, knowing me, that it’s most likely Pale Plum and Perfect Plum, and the heart is embossed in white. The stamp set is Priceless, and I’ve stamped the little flower in Whisper White craft ink on the background. The ‘Happy Together’ greeting is from the Everyday Flexible Phrases. A bit of white grosgrain tied and it’s done!

Very simple, but elegant? I hope so!!!

Thanks for looking! :D
