Holiday in Paradise

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday October 4, 2007

Paradise Beach on the 90 Mile Beach that is!

We spent the first week of the school holidays ’camping’ down at Paradise Beach, and had a pretty good time. The kids were great, and aside from having a headache and muscle aches for the first three days, I had a great time too. (It was nothing a few painkillers and some naps during the day couldn’t fix ;) )

Now usually we see a lot of wildlife down there, in the insect form of mosquitoes and bull ants, so it was a nice surprise to actually see some of our Aussie wildlife as well this time. (Yep the mozzies and ants were still there in force, along with some moths for a change)

This is the sight that greeted us when we opened the door of the shed one morning, they were only a metre or so away, and I thought one was pretty special - but seeing the second one nearby was really fantastic!

The one near the flowering tree sat there while I did the dishes underneath it!

The next couple we saw were a pair of either kangaroo’s or wallabies, I’m not sure which they were! This was on the little track down to the beach.

So cute.

And finally, well the last photo anyway (we also saw a tortoise and a goanna crossing the road at one stage), there was a seal cavorting up and down the beach when we went fishing one of the days! It was quite close to shore, and diving in and out of the water having a fabbo time. Of course the camera makes everything tiny, but rest assured, that blurry black spot is a seal LOL!

The roasting of marshmellows each night on the campfire was the icing on the cake of a really nice holiday!!

Blokey card

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday October 4, 2007

I really really don’t like making cards for men - I’m not attracted to the blokier stamps, so I don’t have any, but I realised the other day that I don’t need them either!

For this card I’ve used two of the Stampin’ Up! background images, Weathered and Print Pattern, and a birthday stamp from the Hostess set ‘Tag Time’. The colours are Night of Navy and Really Rust. There are a couple of gold eyelets and some navy ribbon to finish.

This card could easily be made more feminine, just by changing the colours and nothing else!

Thanks for looking! :D

Stampin’ Up!® October Promotion

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday October 4, 2007

In addition to the World Card Making Day promotion from my last post, there is also a promotion that runs for the full month of October!

Spring Is In The Air

For the month of October, when you purchase the Looks Like Spring stamp set, and the matching Looks Like Spring flower punch, you will receive a packet of coordinating designer series double sided paper (Spring Showers or Spring Flowers) for free! The paper comes in a pack of 12, 2 sheets each of 6 designs, and is valued at $16.95.

The papers pictured are from the Spring Flowers assortment, the Spring Showers assortment is in blue tones.

And this is how the punch coordinates so well with the stamp set…

I inked up the three flower stamp using markers, huffed on it and stamped onto Whisper White. When you turn the punch upside down you can see exactly where to punch to get perfect flowers every time! Apologies for the blurry photo - I am not a left handed photo taker LOL! The punch also works well with the smaller single flower in the set.

It’s a great deal, and orders must be in by the end of the day, 31st October! :D

World Cardmaking Day this Saturday!

Blogged in by Jenni Monday October 1, 2007

Yes, there is such a thing as World Cardmaking Day, and you can find out more about it here . I am going to put the day, or part of it anyway, to good use and make a start on my Christmas cards - I am determined to actually get some done this year! I had half planned a Stamp-A-Stack, but I think that, being school holidays, I was being a little ambitious there - I am already clinging to my sanity by a hairs breadth!

As a little promotion, Stampin’ Up! have decided to give you 20% off their Simply Sent card kits, if they are ordered between 4-8th October. These are awesome little kits, you get EVERYTHING you need to create 10 cards, including envelopes, and they even give you step by step instructions! Once you’ve finished your cards, all you need to get is more cardstock, and you can keep creating to your hearts content!

They make great gifts, and also ‘emergency’ cards for times when inspiration doesn’t strike, or worse, you forget to make a card for someone (ahem).  I mean a card is easy to make. Ouch!! Wait! Let me finish!! It’s the designing, and comparing colours, and colouring in, and starting again because you hated what it turned out like, and changing the layout 20 times before you’re happy, that takes all the time. And these kits have done all that bit for you! So it’s really speedy to whip one of these up at a moments notice, and you can add your own slant or move things around if you want to put your mark on it.

I love em.

I’ll be placing an order for my fourth one on Sunday evening, so if anyone out there in internet land would like one as well, let me know by email, on jenni.oliver@hotkey.net.au and I’ll order it for you. If you don’t have a hardcopy of the catalogue, you can see it online here - go to page 19 and 20 to see the kits to choose from.

20% is quite a saving… the Good Things, and A Wish for You kits come down by just over $15. And the Remembering You, and Friendship Shapes kits come down by nearly $17!

Also stand by for a holiday update…… and an October Promotion update….. and a photo of a blokey card I made for a friend…… and a Paperific update……  and I think I need waaay more hours in the day!  :O
