My third ever 6×6 layout!!

Blogged in by Jenni Wednesday June 27, 2007

Some of you may not already know this about me, but I am definitely NOT a scrapbooker. I just cannot seem to fill all of that space on a page LOL! A card seems so simple to me in comparison, I really struggle.

Hoopla for the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator website with all of its nifty little samples and layouts for us to use as inspiration (read completely copy in my case ;) ) .

My sister will kill me when she see’s this, but I just LOVE this photo - yes it’s a bit blurry because I took a lot of photo’s of my sis and Quinn mucking around that day - but the looks on their faces are just priceless to me in this less than perfect shot.

I’ve used Old Olive, Cool Carribean and Cranberry Crisp cardstock and inks, and the stamp sets are Happy Everything, Paisley and hmmmm would you believe Itty Bitty Backgrounds?? ;)

Ok my score is now 12 x 12 layouts …. 3 completed. 6×6 layouts …. 3 completed. I am determined to finish an album of each though, so check back in say…. 5 years and I’ll update you on my progress :)

Ugh looking at that pic of the layout again I think I will photograph it again tomorrow so it’s clearer, one of the cherubs had been messing with the camera settings.

And another…

Here’s another one I made with the same set and colours  - this one is a sympathy card for a friend who lost someone close to her recently.

The background for this is Linen, and the sentiment is from All Year Cheer I.

[photopress:Thinking_of_You_Angela.JPG,full,pp_empty]

I really like this set now - it didn’t appeal to me at first, but after using it for these I’ve changed my mind! Looks like I’ll have to get my own though, I stamped these images with my downline Kerri’s set!!

‘Blokey’ Cards

Blogged in by Jenni Sunday June 24, 2007

I’m sure we’ve all had a grumble about how hard it is to make cards for men, and I’ve had to tackle that job myself today. I rarely make them so I find it a real challenge to break away from the pretty flowers and girlie colours that I love creating with.

I had to do it however, as a pick-me-up for someone who has recently been very, very ill, and is still not 100% now.

This card is made with the new In Colour range, in particular Cranberry Crisp, Buckaroo Blue and True Thyme.  The little bird is an image from the set Touch of Nature, and it’s fantastic to watercolour - I’ve used blender pens and inkpads for this one, in colours to match the cardstock. Other stamps are the Weathered background, All Year Cheer I and Itty Bitty Backgrounds of course (I just LOVE that set). I’ve used some eyelets from the Metallic selection too.

Hope he likes it!

I CAN do it!!

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday June 21, 2007

This card is to show you all (and myself!) that I can use colours other than the Plums and Celery!!

The layout for this card comes from the demonstrator website, which is always full of really helpful idea’s and hints for preparing for workshops - and with this months promotion being a ‘Marker’ special, it made sense to have a go with this set!

I’ve used Eat Cake and the Twinkle Stampin’ Around wheel. The colours are Lovely Lilac, Gable Green and Only Orange. I think it’s come up very nicely, and it’s very different to my usual pastel efforts! I inked up the stamps direct to rubber, using the Stampin’ Write Markers from the Bold Brights pack.

[photopress:Eat_cake_marker_lilac_gable_orange.JPG,full,pp_empty]

Just to remind you, if you purchase a set of Stampin’ Write markers this month, you can also purchase the Eat Cake stamp set at 30% off. That means it comes down from $49.95 to just $34.97!!

Ask me for more details on this promotion if you’re interested… there are three other sets on special too!

Card Tote

Blogged in by Jenni Friday June 15, 2007

Ok so obviously I am stuck in a Mixed Bouquet rut, and am still LOVING the combo of Perfect & Pale Plums, with Certainly Celery (But look closer! There’s Bashful Blue in there too!).

I’m making a few of these to give away as gifts to people this week, and I have to say they’re really fun to make! I need to thank Marelle Taylor for the fantastic idea for the ‘one sheet wonder’ type of card I made, and I’d like to thank whoever it was I got the tote pattern off too - but I don’t remember where that was, so if it was you, let me know so I can acknowledge you here! This one went to Kelsey’s teacher (tee hee, she’s sure to pass Prep now ;) )

This is the tote filled and complete…

And this is the contents of it laid out, the envelopes are stamped to coordinate nicely with the cards.

Look out! Everyone might get one of these for their birthdays this year :)

Caught red-handed!!

Blogged in by Jenni Thursday June 14, 2007

Literally.

For the second day in a ROW!!

This was the conversation yesterday….

Me - ‘WHAT is that all over your face… and hands….. and tshirt??’ *instant suspicion forming*

Quinn - ’Nuthin’ *innocent look*

Me - ‘Have you been eating my Jaffa’s?’ *thinks ‘horrid child’*

Quinn - ’No’ *insert even more innocent look*

Me - ‘Then what have you got on your hands?’ *changing mind, maybe it’s texta?*

Quinn - ‘I don’t know’ *butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth*

Me - ‘Come here and let me smell you’ *thinks aha! I have him now*

Suspicions confirmed I spend a short time bellowing as now I have to buy MORE Jaffa’s to complete my magazine submission due next week. *thinks ‘well that’s got him sorted out*

How optimistic I am sometimes! How positive! How trusting!

How gullible.

How dumb.

Here he is today, completely unrepentant.

Me - *thinking…. ‘I wonder if there’s room under the house for one more child….’ ;) *

50 Years!

Blogged in by Jenni Monday June 11, 2007

Friday 15th June marks my parents-in-law’s 50th Wedding Anniversary! That’s quite an achievement I’d say - and I’m pretty impressed! I think you both have to have a lot of love, and if not love, patience, to make it that long!!!

The family has chipped in to pay for a night at the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne, including some yummy dinner and brekky, and I was asked to jazz up a mock Gift Certificate for them….

[photopress:Gift_Voucher_Shut.JPG,full,pp_empty]

[photopress:Gift_Certificate_open.JPG,full,pp_empty]

I was really pleased with how it turned out, and I can see myself making many more of these as gifts. I’ve used Mixed Bouquet as the stamp set, and the colours are Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. I love that combo at the moment. :)

Also a cute photo I took yesterday of the girls - David is replacing the central heating ducting under the house, and they insisted on going under there with him. Ugh, I couldn’t think of anything worse myself, all those creepy crawlies and old dog poo!!

Do you think it would mess with their heads too much if I tell them we kept them under the house, when we’re flicking through the family album and find this photo when they’re all grown up?

Hmmmmmm. ;)

Dazzling Diamonds card

Blogged in by Jenni Saturday June 2, 2007

Much as I love my husband, one of my pet hates is when he says… ‘I need a card for *insert name here*’s birthday. For tomorrow.’

Grrrrr. So this is what he said Wednesday night! And of course it wasn’t any old birthday, it was a 21st Birthday for one of the girls at work!

I got out the new OnBoard Chipboard lowercase alphabet, and thankfully the numbers 1 and 2 were still there!! I inked up with Whisper White Craft ink, and applied heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds glitter. The other colours I’ve used are Tempting Turquoise and Metallic silver cardstock.

The ‘Captain’ is an in joke - her name is Denille, so naturally she’s become Captain (from the Captain and Tenille for all of those who aren’t as old as me *blush*)
